2026 Scholarship Applications

The Tau Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is a proud supporter of youth in North Solano County. Since, the chapter’s charter in 1993, we have provided over $257,000 in scholarship money to deserving students who have the drive, passion, and commitment to further their educational career and give back to their community. Applications are available at the beginning of the year and due around spring break.
Tau Upsilon Omega Chapter Scholarship Committee takes a holistic approach in evaluating applications and is looking for a well-rounded student who values academics, community involvement, and extra-curricular activities. The scholarships are awarded at our Annual Baccalaureate Ceremony at the end of the school year. This is a great opportunity for African- American women who are in their senior year of high school in North Solano County: Dixon, Vacaville, Fairfield and Rio Vista.
Application Instructions:
1) Please read the instructions carefully. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
2) Application must be typed or printed neatly.
3) Application must be postmarked by Monday, March 30, 2026 Late entries will not be accepted.
The following four (4) items must be included in your scholarship packet:
a) Completed application form
b) A certified copy of your high school transcript
c) A typed essay answering the following questions:
i. What aspirations do you have that reflect the goals of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority? (Hint: research the AKA website at http://www.aka1908.com or our chapter website, www.akatuo.com, to find out about our objectives and goals.)
ii. What adjectives would you use to describe yourself? (Give examples and explain why?)
iii. Will you be attending an HBCU? If so, which one and why did you choose this school?
iv. Please provide any additional information about yourself that would assist the committee in choosing you for this scholarship.
d) Two letters of recommendation.
